The Omni King Edward Hotel

A little while ago, I was invited to stay at the Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, and honestly, it turned into one of the most refreshing and inspiring weekends I’ve had in a while. It was part work, part rest, part girl time, and somehow everything I needed.

The King Edward is one of Toronto’s oldest hotels, but it doesn’t feel stiff or dated at all. It’s elegant and calm. When you walk in, you’re greeted by this classic architecture mixed with modern charm, high ceilings, golden light, beautiful details, and little nooks where you can sit with a drink or a book. It just feels like you’re stepping into something special.

We were lucky enough to stay in one of their premium rooms, which actually had a mini living room setup when you walk in, big TV, soft chairs, a cozy couch, and even a small desk space. It felt really homey, but elevated. Then you walk into the bedroom, and it’s bright and peaceful. Two double beds, a second TV, massive windows, and so much natural light that I immediately felt calmer just being there.

That first day, after settling in and walking around (and me taking, let’s be real, a lot of video footage), we headed to their Consort Bar. We had some drinks, some food, the Caesar salad was perfect, and just talked and laughed. The space felt warm and relaxed, like a place where you could meet someone for a fancy cocktail or just sit alone with a notebook and wind down. We ended the night in bed, watching TV, in robes, just being cozy. Honestly, ideal.

The next morning started with room service breakfast, which felt way too good. We sat down at the little dining table in our robes, ate, talked, took some photos, and just slowed down. It was kind of therapeutic, like the kind of morning I always say I want but never actually take time to have. The breakfast was amazing too: Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, fluffy pancakes, the works. And yes, we had mimosas. Obviously.

After eating, we got some work done (photo time!) and then went downstairs to explore the Mokara Spa, and I still can’t believe a space like that exists right inside the hotel. It was so clean, quiet, and welcoming. We signed a few forms, got changed into the robes they gave us, and started our little spa journey: steam room, snacks and infused water, then just laying down and doing nothing for a while, which honestly was everything.

Before checking out, we had lunch at the bar again and tried a drink (or two). I took some headshots of the management team inside one of the hotel’s ballrooms which, by the way, are stunning. I would love to shoot a wedding here one day. The architecture, the staff, the lighting, it’s all just beautiful.

This weekend felt like everything I love wrapped into one: photography, storytelling, elegance, calm, friendship, and amazing food. Thank you to Omni King Edward Hotel for having us, and to Kate for being part of this with me.

Can’t wait to go back someday.

Love,
Lara
